Iverson eFuels AS has been working since 2021 on the development of a facility for the production of green ammonia in Sauda. Over the course of the project, the framework conditions have changed.
When the project was initiated and the application for grid capacity was submitted, the start of production was estimated for 2027. This estimate was based on the assumptions known at the time. As the project has matured and new information has become available, the timeline has been adjusted several times.
Subsequently, the start of production was indicated to be around 2030, and based on the current state of knowledge, analyses now point to no earlier than 2031, provided that the necessary framework conditions are put in place.
Adjustments to timelines are normal in large, complex industrial projects in the early phase, particularly where development depends on external factors such as access to grid capacity, permits, including approval of zoning plans, delivery of critical equipment, financing, and market developments.
Statnett has decided to withdraw the previously reserved grid capacity for the project. The decision is justified by the regulatory framework governing progress and maturity in power-intensive industrial projects, as well as the principle of equal treatment of actors.
The project is now in dialogue with Statnett to explore a new solution and to obtain the necessary clarifications regarding new grid capacity.
