Meet us at Arendalsuka!

Iverson eFuels is excited to participate in Arendalsuka, which will be held from August 12 to 16, 2024. Below is an overview of the events where Iverson eFuels will be either organizing or participating.

Monday, August 12: We are participating in debate on hydrogen

Event: "Hydrogen, the Energy Carrier of the Future – Who Will Lead the Way?"

Location: Rygerelektra

Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Hydrogen has the potential to become a crucial climate solution and a significant Norwegian industry in the coming years. The sector is expected to grow from the current 1,000 employees to several thousand by 2030. Reports and analyses indicate a need for increased competence across the entire value chain and at all educational levels, along with a growing demand for continuing and further education. However, there is a gap between the competence needed and what educational institutions offer. Many companies in the hydrogen industry face challenges in recruiting skilled employees with relevant expertise. This debate, opened by the Vestland Council (Vestlandsrådet), will address who will take on the job, the required competencies, and the role of educational institutions.

Debate participants:

  • Anders Riise, County Mayor, Møre og Romsdal County
  • Jon Askeland, County Mayor, Vestland County
  • Ole Ueland, County Mayor, Rogaland County
  • Ingebjørg Telnes Wilhelmsen, Secretary General, Norwegian Hydrogen Forum
  • Hege Økland, CEO, Iverson eFuels/Hy2gen Nordic
  • Velaug Myrseth Oltedal, Associate Professor, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences
  • Bjørn Lyngedal, Department Director, Vestland County

Tuesday, August 13: We are organising debate on ammonia

Event: "Ammonia as an Enabler for Emission-Free Shipping - What Needs to be Done?"

Location: M/S Sandnes

Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

To reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping, new supply chains and partnerships are essential. We will announce a new collaboration that aims to make green ammonia available as fuel for the shipping fleet. Partnering with St1, Port of Stavanger and ASCO, we'll explore what is needed to speed up the energy transition in shipping and create a sustainable value chain for green ammonia.

This event is an opportunity to discuss how ammonia can transform the maritime sector. Topics include the potential, challenges, and opportunities of the technology, regulatory frameworks, infrastructure needs, and international cooperation necessary to scale the use of ammonia as fuel globally.

Attendees will gain insights into planned investments, industry partnerships, and our vision for future innovations in sustainable shipping. The discussion will also cover how this technology can be integrated into existing ships, the benefits for operators, and its role in achieving Norway's ambitious climate neutrality goals.

Debate participants:

  • Hege Økland, CEO, Iverson eFuels AS
  • Simen Hauland, Project Manager P2X, St1 Norge AS
  • Runar Hatletvedt, CEO, ASCO Norge AS
  • Isabelle-Louise Aabel, Communication manager, Port of Kristiansand and Member of "Havnesamarbeidet", including Port of Stavanger
  • Morten Sundt, Manager Marine Operations, Equinor
  • Anne Jorunn Møkster, CEO, Simon Møkster Shipping AS

Wednesday, August 14: Participating in debate on new fuels for shipping

Event: "New Fuels for Shipping – How to Kickstart the Value Chains?"

Location: Rygerelektra

Time: 09:30 AM - 10:30 AM

The lack of access to zero-emission fuels is slowing down the transition of the shipping industry. At the same time, the competition for clean energy is intensifying. What do shipowners demand, and what do fuel suppliers need to kickstart the supply? Do the Parliament and government have the right tools to turn ambitious green industry goals into reality?

Maritime CleanTech brings together industry actors and politicians to debate what is needed to accelerate the development of value chains for hydrogen, ammonia, and other new fuels.

Debate participants:

  • Marianne Sivertsen Næss, Minister of Oceans, Labour Party
  • Liv Kari Eskeland, Member of Parliament, Conservative Party
  • Sveinung Rotevatn, Member of Parliament, Liberal Party
  • Bent Martini, CEO, Havila Kystruten
  • Andreas Enger, CEO, Höegh Autoliners
  • Morten Solberg Watle, CEO, GreenH
  • Hege Økland, CEO, Iverson eFuels/Hy2gen Nordic
  • Marthe Therese Solaas Møller, VP Bunkering and Market Development, Yara Clean Ammonia
  • Johannes Namstad Dobson, Group Director, Eviny Kraft
  • Ada Martine Jakobsen, CEO, and Håvard Tvedte, Director of Public Affairs, Maritime CleanTech
